Pain relief with EMMETT Technique and NST Bowen Therapy

Pain acts like a early warning signal that the body is not functioning within normal homeostatic limits. In many instances, pain is the result of irregular muscular tensions, pulling unevenly throughout the body or unevenly across joints. This often results in bones being "pulled" out of alignment which can then "push" onto nerve, causing irritation. As a result of pain, we consciously and unconsciously try to compensate to avoid the pain, and a spiralling effect of compensations can be set up. Both the EMMETT Technique and NST Bowen Therapy use gentle pressure points or switching / rolling movements at particular points on soft tissue to unlock and release heightened muscle tension to induce a more balanced and healthy level of tone. In this way the tensions in the body can more appropriately hold the structure (ie bones) in place, allowing improved nerve innervation, reduced aggravation and easier movement.
